Excellent, everyone! Bodacious! This is gonna be a legendary competition.
When the clock strikes 00:00 for the 4th of March, I'll post my contact information so that people will be able to submit their samples.

Augh! Heh heh. PENIS. Yeah, certainly, standardizing on the sample format is a good idea. All samples should be 44.1KHz 16bit, like you say.

Excellent! I'll add DJ Destroid and WaR, and smh.

And now, I'll prepare the rules for sample submission. Once I'm done, and as soon as it strikes midnight, I'll post them. Then, people will have a week to submit their samples.

and Bill Brewer, Jan Stewer, Peter Gurney, Peter Davy, Dan'l Whiddon, Harry Hawke, Old Uncle Tom Cobley and all.

Do you have any ideas or suggestions for this next SPC?

one thing you said - "You may also cover existing songs" - i'm not sure about this personally. it feels like a bad idea to encourage covers, since SPC as a legacy has always been about original music.

It's midnight (at least here in the UK) and you can now submit your samples! Ah man.

Blitz Lunar, yeah, I agree with you. Original works would be better than covers. Hmm... I think I'll remove that sentence about encouraging covers.
In that case, what should I do if someone submits a cover? Should it be disqualified or accepted?

i never really thought about it before since i assumed it wouldn't happen. in fact i don't think it has happened more than once? the only time i remember is when you included a bit of that david the gnome song at the end of 1831 (and that seemed more of an impromptu/fun thing thrown on at the end of an otherwise original song anyway.) i think it's unlikely to happen.. if it does i think it should be disqualified, but it's your contest ultimately, so your call.

also, samples submitted! fWOOOSH

I might join in too. It's been ages since I've last done anything.
School just loves to NOM NOM all the free time I have.
