I make virtually all tunes on Schism Tracker, and that is one of the best composition applications I've come across... at least one that's free.
My game music works:
Scribble Star by Winzenheimer and the Stencyl Team
Nine Pixel Game by KungFuFurby (my own creation! ^_^)
Arkanaut by Manuel/Satelite Play
Blackheist by Manuel/Satelite Play

And some others that haven't been released yet.

I'll certainly be getting at LEAST one or two entries this time round. Finally got back to my PC after 2-3 weeks being away trying to make heads/tails with different trackers. xD (I'll get there, but need moar practice.)

Will be looking forward to what everyone's come up with. :D

I hope so too. I sent a reminder PM and email out to people, three days ago, and I only received responses from smh and MaliceX.

If a lot of people still haven't gotten in touch by the deadline. I might extend it by one or two days.

I can't believe the songs are due already!
Been crazy busy, but I managed to do a couple songs...
There's still a few days left so I will try to do one last one and I will send them all together then.

Also on a side note... did everyone have these same problems?
1. Processing the samples ate up a lot of time.
2. It was really hard to find a strong bass instrument this time around.
3. Samples would inspire something and then when you actually tried it, it sounded like crap.

Anyways, I look forward to the songs! :D

I actually had a lot of ideas going on when I first heard the samples, but then when it came to crunch time, composition wasn't so much of a focus. Toying with the sounds is just way too much fun (for me anyway). :D

But yeah, shattered time's flown. Been away from my main PC for 2-3 weeks (and struggling to make an attempt of entries with alien programs :S, 'tis for another time) then rushing to dump all the ideas down when one gets the chance.

It's great to see you around again, blue.nocturne.

Yeah, I found it difficult to make melodic instruments from the samples, although I managed it with some persistence. I had an especially hard time finding a bass sound, like you said. I eventually got some, but it took a lot of work.

Blue.nocturne:

Yeah, the samples did take a long time to prepare for use this time. And yeah, it was hard to get a good bass sound. But, the best things take time, and that's why I wasn't upset when it took me 2 days just to prepare the sounds for use. Much easier than just taking the samples and going, and having to edit every last one on the fly, rather than a few for the specific need.

OH, and I may do another entry or two, but It's not a 100% guarantee due to certain hardships getting in my way. It really was a lot of fun this year, and that is exactly why I want to try to make more entries still. I really love the challenge of it, and it helps teach the fact that any sound can sound good, it's just a matter of how you choose to use that sound.
