Well, in my case, I'll make sure that my scheduling isn't so jammed up... plus, I'm not 100% serious on my end at the moment... it is indeed a temptation. Sometimes they're resisted, other times they aren't... provided I don't get carried away. I'm also going to try to test some MP3 tag stripping software... that's something that was almost accidentally omitted in this SPC compo. And if worse comes to worse, I could just hex edit the files to scratch off the tagging.

Yup, that's what I was thinking... only that I pushed back the start date to allow time to actually listen to them before doomsday happens (or to account for a user-requested delay if absolutely needed)... I estimated a week for sample submission, four weeks (roughly a month) for the music, and another week for the voting, which makes the grand total six weeks. Each deadline would most likely land on a Friday (December 21st itself is on a Friday).
My game music works:
Scribble Star by Winzenheimer and the Stencyl Team
Nine Pixel Game by KungFuFurby (my own creation! ^_^)
Arkanaut by Manuel/Satelite Play
Blackheist by Manuel/Satelite Play

And some others that haven't been released yet.

KungFuFurby, I like your idea of a December 21st contest! Perhaps we could have some sort of doomsday themed contest with the songs being released on the 21st? You know, so we could all listen to the music as the world "ends". I, for one, would definitely be up to it.

It's definitely an idea...

I was thinking about something like that, too. Endtime themed songs would be a great idea.

Yup, I said about using fb2k to easily strip out all tag information, which I guess was forgotten or ignored.

That's why it's tempting to just run the contests myself. There were similar issues with tags and score calculations in other editions of the contest in the past as well. So I'm very serious about making sure anyone who runs it doesn't mess it up, it isn't just that I'm a perfectionist but it's also frustrating for anyone who enters.

I say, let Dave (Blitz Lunar) run it. Either that or let him choose who should do it if he isn't able to for some schedule reason. I suppose most people would agree that if anyone was to have authority on the matter of SPC it would be him.

And ya, let's celebrate the end of this stupid world with an SPC. That's the only way to go.

Will the entries be posted before the world breaks into calamity and before civilization crumbles? You know, it would be nice to hear them before we have to live out the zombie apocalypse.

I didn't want to buy 100 copies, but they said, it's the mininum amount you have to buy. If you're interested in owning one of those copies, let me know. They look pretty cool. Not sure, why the image with the CD itself doesn't work any more.

Eh, I'm kinda late for this but what the hell. Some great entries here! I unfortunately didn't make it because I honestly just couldn't get a full idea out of these samples. Near the end of the contest I was able to crank out a small portion of a song but I didn't have enough time to flesh it out at that point and I kind of hit some writer's block in the middle of it. Anyway here it is if anyone's interested along with another WIP that ended up nowhere.
Song WIP
Crap WIP

Anyway, glad I gave these a listen. There's some great stuff here! I'll probably be more hesitant to join the next one just in case...

Ah man, Jayster... those sound soo nice. It's a shame, that you didn't make it in the contest. Awesome bassline in the "Crap WIP" thing.

I love both of those. The "crap"(???) one reminds me of demoscene musicians DRAX and Norfair.
