Triumphant return of the upload page

Postby Forteblast » Sat Aug 13, 2005 3:05 am

In response to the multitudes of people who have asked me about this in recent weeks: The upload page is back!

Now that the processor is upgraded, I've made several script upgrades, debuted a new update system for the staff, and nearly completed work on the forums. Our website is not only completely functional but even more so than it was before. The updaters have also performed admirably, with two updates finished (thanks, Pongball and Suds) and others to come.

As for the news you've been waiting for: The upload page is now re-opened. I apologize for the long wait; thank you for your patience while our server woes were sorted out. Thanks to the modifications I've made, my hope is that updates may become easier to perform, which will lead to less stress on the staff and more frequent updates for you. I plan to test the system myself soon, so if you see an update from me on the additions page, that's why. Being a former updater comes in handy!

In other news, the old forums are now permanently deleted.

Feedback is always appreciated, so please contact me with any questions or concerns you might have.

How about the site updates? Did the updaters manage to get some of the glitches resolved, like the one Pongball reported earlier elsewhere in the forums?

My understanding was that site updates were one of the things standing in the way of re-activating the upload script, and I knew that it wasn't the only thing.

This is cool, but...well, here's my view:
If I were a sequencer, and I wanted people to notice my sequences, I would certainly wait a day or two after the uploading was returned to service. There is going to be a FLOOD, and a lot of submissions will be overlooked by people browsing the new forums.

Obviously, if you don't really care and just want it added to the archive, I wouldn't worry about it but...well, that's just my take on the situation.

Everything is coming along I see, and I definitely can't wait for the return of uploading.

Yay! I have wanted to get my Cave Story sequences uploaded... What would Cave Story be under though?

Quite my thoughts exactly...I don't really care, though. As long as I can get these files up on the VGM net I'll be happy. ^^

This doesn't really affect me, but if it makes the sequencers happy, it's good.

YAAAY! Uploading will be back soon! :D

Now my question: Is it possible that the mass MIDI upload that will take place moments after uploading is re-enabled will cause an overload of some sort? Just wondering.
How does Kazooie lay eggs through her mouth? And where on earth are all those eggs stored when she isn't firing them?

MIDIs sequenced (including originals): 301

Ah...that's super. I'm been anticipating the re-opening of the upload script. It's nice to hear that it will be back soon...VGMusic just isn't the same without it. ;)
